As you’ve might noticed there’s very little food involved in this blog, and I think it’s because I try to have a mindful approach to eating. Standing on a chair photographing, which ends up with cold tea or coffee (or food for that matter), I don’t make a priority. But the truth is that after my heaven like experience at the workshop/ retreat (read about here, here and here!) in Sweden in December, I’ve dropped meat. Very close at least – you can count on one hand how many times I’ve eaten a tiny bit of meat the last six weeks. Not planned, and not been thinking that much about it really. It was a typical it just happened. Some of the best things I do to myself just happens, there’s little effort involved. It’s all about wanting to treat myself kindly, and then kindness happens more often. Do you want me to share more food? And just so it’s mentioned my favourite Sofia is in the latest issue of the Swedish magazine Femina, that was my lunch reading!
Late last night I did this one. Well, the blue and black was made earlier, but I haven’t been able to continue with it, had no idea what it was going to be. And this is where it is in the process right now. Don’t know how it will end up when it’s done.
I’m trying out new techniques and feel bold and free while working. Remember – even though I’ve sold some paintings it doesn’t mean I’ve been making many paintings. I’ve not had the time, or space, to really try and figure things out. So this one, and the one with the waves, is painted directly on fabric (this one on linen and the waves on Indian cotton), no prep (gesso) involved. It turns out very soft and light in a way, and I’ve also “desaturated” my colour scheme a little. Oh, and using not only paint but also chalk combined with it. Exciting!
Feel free to contact me for any inquiries about the paintings (or other things!). Wish you a nice weekend!
