The package arrived and I was excited. Like really excited! I had been looking forward to this day… and opening it was like opening and old dark wooden door with a window in it (a bell rings) and enter and old pharmacy with buds, leaves and flower petals as the main ingredients. At the same time I got a sensation of being with my great grandmother who died just few weeks after I was born. When she died I got her name as my second name, and there’s only one photo in this world with me in her arms. It might sounds odd, but she was the first thing that crossed my mind when I opened the bag of Santa Maria Novella Pot Pourri. I know she loved flowers… I’m so sensitive that I can crack at almost any time, but it also has some great benefits – like all sorts of good emotions and “other worlds” that can pop open just by a tiny bit of a fragrance. These doors does not necessary lead to the kind places, but this time it did, and it will from now and forever remind me of something good. I put the pot pourri in a vintage black and gold mocca cup, and placed it in my rearranged corner by the dining area in the green room. This is my favourite place inside Villa Betula now, it’s very much a signature of where my style is heading. All I need is dark greens and blues, mulberries and black, and I need dark wood and art (and mirrors and lamps, rugs and greenery of course, there can’t be a home without it!).
But more pot pourri – I’ve smelled it once before – in Abigail Ahern’s pad in January. And I was so thrilled and tried to turn the world up-side-down to get hold of it myself. It wasn’t going to be easy, but suddenly someone wanted to buy it for me and ship it from Britain. Thank you kindest Paget! I’ve found such a soft and kind world out there… In the “insta-interior-world”… It’s great, but sad at the same time… Why can’t these people be my neighbor’s and have a cuppa every now and then… Smell the pot pourri – not just see it in a photo…
Maren, I so wish I could just pop over for a cuppa!!! We are kindred spirits for sure!!!? Banks of the Wabash
