MULBERRY

I hope you agree with me that it’s better late than never? For those who follow my stories on Instagram know I’ve been a busy bee fixing a new room for my daughter the last week. A new wall, moving a door, paint every wall, ceiling and floor countless times. I finished the paint job late last night, and I started the furnishing and faffing this afternoon. And my daughter arrives tomorrow… I think she will enjoy a room there times as big as her last one. Anyway, I don’t have any photos, and all of a sudden I remembered I’ve forgot to share photos from the hallway which finished weeks ago!! It used to be partly mulberry, and I almost went sleepless of the light grey that was still dominant in there (probably just in my eyes…). And there was no way that grey was going to exist when Maria and Anne came here for a photoshoot! So finally I had no choice but paint it all out mulberry (well, I made that rule myself). And now I like it ten times better. No kidding. What do you think?

And another thought: when the whole house is “done” (everything painted and the clutter hidden a little better), what about me arranging some “relaxed-down-to-earth-no-stress-house-tours-with-coffee-involved”? If you’re curious how this “dark thing” actually works in real?

Hi! Thanks <3 She was really happy for her room from the first second! Phew 😉 Photos will come! It's quite a nice light up in her room, so even it's rather dark days I will get it photographed, yay! Wish you a lovely weekend too, hugs

I love dark interiors! They are so cozy! This mulberry color looks gorgeous! You are giving me ideas. 🙂 I have a question though. How do your plants like all the darkness? I noticed a few very good looking plants in the darkest corners of your rooms. Did you just move them there for the photo shoot? Are those corners not as dark as they appear in the photos? I struggle to provide enough light for my plants so if you have tips, I’d appreciate it. And yeah, I’d love to see some house tours!

Hi! Thanks – I totally agree – dark interiors are very cozy! My plants are not just shuffed around to “match” my photos, and 95% of my plants are real (just some small faux). I’ve spent some time finding the ones that works out quite well in darker spaces. In winter time I often move them closer to the windows to get more light though (it’s very dark in Norway several months a year). Sometimes plants die, but rarely actually! I don’t know which photos you’ve been looking at, according to if the corners are darker in photos than in real. But usually not. I like to photograph when it’s a little gloomy, and usually never photograph when the sun hits the rooms. So, the light on the plants varies during the day and according to the weather… but the main trick is to learn to know the plants and what they can live with. Guess they would have grown faster if they had more light, but as long as they grow slowly (read: don’t die!) I’m pleased 😉

ABOUT ME

I do and share things by heart. I create personal texts, am a musician, sell original art and prints, make a special home and capture the magic with my camera – everything rather dark hued. Villa Betula is not just skimming the tops.

And by the way - my name is Maren Ingeborg Gråblomst and I’m Norwegian. Gråblomst means grey flower.
